Why The Democrats Shouldn't Underestimate John McCain/Why Hillary Is A Better Choice For Democrats

Democrats are showing their true colors when it comes to how they approach John McCain. They don't know how to approach him, or at least their "strategy" is all wrong. They really believe that labeling John McCain as a "Third term of George Bush" will actually work. They think they can bind the two in terms of the economy and the war, when in reality they can only tie the two in terms of the war. That's about it. John McCain is not a Bush third term and voters aren't that dumb. Yet Democrats, in all their tradition of patronizing and playing voters for complete fools actually think voters will buy into that narrative.

I would like to know, is John McCain's position on Gitmo a like minded view shared by George Bush? Is his environmentalist stances and his views on global warming a like minded view shared by President Bush? Is John McCain's opposition to torture a like minded view shared by George Bush?If not then Democrats are going to have a hard time tying McCain to George Bush. How far can they take that? If anything John McCain earned the respect of a lot of people because he stood by a decision that he knew was unpopular and for the most part he proved us all wrong with that decision to support the surge. Obama can no more claim "moral" victory on opposing the war from the start than John McCain can in supporting the surge. Both decisions have worked in positive ways for both presumptive nominees.

So in closing if Democrats aren't careful their over confidence and arrogance will land them with an 0-3 record dating back to 2000. They have yet to find someone as good as the Clinton's and now they're about to rid the party of the best thing that every happened to them in the last 20 years. All for a guy who at best is a one term Jimmy Carter sequel. Say what you want about Bubba and Hillary, they were the safety net for the Democratic party and they were a sure thing. You now see it in all the polls, if you believe in their validity. The polls show that not only does Hillary Clinton beat McCain, but she does better against him than Obama. But all that seems null and void now, the Democrats will try to muster up someone who can give Obama on the job training before the general and probably during the general.

If Obama loses I wonder what the feeling within the Democratic party about Hillary Clinton would be. I wonder if Democrats would accept their plate of crow or make an excuse in the form of a blame or a conspiracy, shouting, "they wanted to bring the black guy down" This time they can't throw a temper tantrum over Florida because they disenfranchised Florida and Michigan.

they are close to seating the Michigan / Florida delegates so don't hold your breath on that part of your argument.

Oh Yeah? by ClarkKent

I don't think it's fair to give 69 to Hillary and 59 to Obama. Is it me or are the Democrats mentally challenged when it comes to delegates and how they distribute them. Why can't they just switch to Winner Take All format like the Republicans. Democrats are so worried about being fair that it lands them in these unnecessary disputes.

Which may be good! I believe that Obama is imminently defeatable, with vulnerabilities stacking up daily.

I think a fair thing would be to seat the FL & MI delegates with those won by Clinton going to her & the rest free to make up their own minds. Heck, some may want to put in a protest vote for Gravel! My idea is good & fair - I would be very surprised if they did it.
